The Ugly Teen Phase: The Helmeted Guinea Fowls are Still Growing and Visiting my Garden

If you have been following my posts of the Helmeted Guinea Fowls, you will know that I have been following the same family for three or four months now. Or rather, they have been visiting my garden for the last three months. I know it has been the same family because the dad (or mother) has a prominent limp. I thought that they had fully grown up now, and my previous post about them I showed the progress photographs where you could see them grow up. But lo and behold they visited again! I saw the dad (or mom) who was limping and then I saw the two kids (who are now teens I would reckon). I had a fright at first because of how ugly they got. I have only seen the fully grown guinea fowls and then the babies who are so cute and beautiful. I have never seen the pre-adult or teen birds. I know it is not nice for me to say this, but they are really not pretty! They look like scary dinosaurs (in mini form). In any case, I think this will really be the last of this family as I think they will be fully grown in a week or so and would then start their own families. Please enjoy these strange and ugly looking teen birds!

I think it is clear in this image just how close they are to adults!
