The Shouting Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris): A Very Loud Friend

It is winter here in South Africa, so it is very cold and wet. The wind blows here where I live, so it is generally unpleasant outside. Even the bird friends hide away from the cold. However, a friend visited me recently! I think this is one of the family members who regularly visit my garden. I aptly named him or her flappy because of the "horn" that fell to the side, see my other post here where I took "portrait" shots of them. In any case, when I heard the call I rushed to get my camera and here flappy sat on the wall shouting! Their shouts are known in South Africa to be relatively irritating because it is very loud and they do it in the early mornings or late at night. But they are really awesome birds! Please enjoy the photographs of flappy before he/she flew away.

The Artistic B/W Shot

I find their feathers so beautiful. I think they also shine when the photograph is black and white. This is the artistic shot. It also looks like something you can draw, maybe a charcoal sketch.
