The Malachite Sunbird (nectarinia famosa) Doing Acrobatic Movements to Feed on some Sugary Flowers

When I try to take photographs of our bird friends, they become shy all of a sudden. When I visit my granddad who lives close to the woods, the birds flock to his home. But I never take my camera. Last weekend I decided to take my camera, with the hope to capture some photographs of these stunning birds. Lo and behold, no bird showed. It was almost like they mocked me because I could hear them singing. In one of my previous posts, I showcased the singing Bokmakierie (Telophorus Zeylonus). They have an incredibly beautiful but loud song. The whole weekend this beautiful bird sang, but never showcased him/herself. I felt paralyzed. But before the packing started and the trip back home, a single lonely Malachite Sunbird (nectarinia famosa) performed some acrobatic movements to get to the flower's nectar. In some of the photographs, you will see he/she tackled the flower upside down! I don't know about you, but it makes me dizzy thinking about eating upside down! But at least I am no bird. Please enjoy these photographs of this stunning bird!
