The Cape white-eye (Zosterops virens) Brought Their Friends: A Flock of Friends in the Trees
Every morning and afternoon, the familiar sounds of the Cape white-eye fill up the sky. They always fly in flocks of 5 of 6 (by my count). Their chirping sounds are so happy and cute. I know their sound by heart and I always run to find my camera to take some photographs, but most of the time I am too late. They fly so quickly from branch to branch and into the thick covers of the trees and bushes. Luckily I had my camera with me one morning when I heard the familiar chirping sounds. I ran behind them for quite a while and took some awesome close-ups. They did not notice me because they are quite camera shy! They were there for less than 10 minutes when they flew to some other trees in other peoples' backyards. I took the most awesome artistic photograph (the second one in the photographs below). The lighting is so soft and the feeling is artistic in nature, but it makes the small friend look big and powerful and in command. Please enjoy these awesome small friends!
The Two Shots
This is not the best photograph in terms of composition or formal qualities, but I find this to be the best photograph I have taken in a while. Its artistic properties, soft lighting etc., makes the small innocent bird feel majestic and powerful.
