The Cape Spurfowl (pternistis capensis) Visiting and Making Funny Portraits

I came to love the Cape Spurfowls. Before, I always dreaded them coming to the garden as they always dig furiously and disturb the ground. I think most gardeners will know the fear of new and baby plants being scrubbed out of the ground. (See the one photograph below where the one spurfowl digs furiously.) Since most of my plants are now mature in size, I came to love these birds. Their slow and friendly demeanour, their beautiful chirping sound and their sometimes funny behaviour! (See the second photograph). In any case, this week a whole family visited the garden. I think there were six or seven birds chillaxing under the trees. You can also see how well camouflaged they are. I really hope they will visit often!

The School Portrait Photographs

It was almost like he/she stood perfectly still for a school portrait. Nice and straight back.

It is all professional until little brother photobombs you and makes funny faces.

Here you can see the force at which they dig. New and baby plants do not stand a chance.
