Photographs from the bakery: Rough week behind the back but there is Hope and Smiles

It is not Friday yet, but already it feels like the week has been longer than 7 days. It feels like the weekend has already left and that we are in the new week.

Today I share some photographs (again!) from the bakery. I have not been able to post anything for two weeks due to all of the work and covid-related things (like restrictions) in my country.

As you can imagine, the week has been long and slow, and it feels like we are going nowhere. But alas, it is Thursday, and today's breads look really nice. I think I did a good job under the circumstances.

I have not been able to work in the garden at all, but the guy helping me in the garden had some of the bread I baked in the bakery. His face lit up and a wonderful smile greeted me when I gave him some of the bread. It is amazing how sometimes small things can make big changes.

The coming weeks and months will be tough. Things in South Africa does not look that good. The ban on alcohol and tougher restrictions in the hospitality industry might cripple it. So many people depend on their jobs, but so many people depend on us getting rid of this virus. It is a double-edged sword and this look bleak.

That said, we can do small things that change and help others. Like me giving the bread away, there are things we all can do. Though we cannot hug, and our smiles are hidden behind the masks, we can still be there for others. Even though it is bleak and it looks like dark clouds will absorb us, we can hope for the best: no one can take our hope away.
