Cape Spurfowl (Pternistis capensis or Kaapse fisant) - A Kind Friend
Hi all! So this is one of the more prevalent birds here where I live but she is also very shy when I pull out the camera! I have actually never photographed one in my own garden, but I have taken some nice photographs while at friends and family close by. I just love the noise they make when you wake up in the morning or while I wet the garden and they are close by. Once again, I post a series of photographs at the bottom which led up to the shot. Please enjoy!
The Shot
The Attempts
I love how it looks like she (or he!) just looks at me like I am some weird being. I guess I am a weird being to her. I find this really cute!
One early morning we threw out some old maize or corn porridge (mielie pap in my native tongue) that went stale. We were surprised by the soothing sound of our friends! One can say that I lured them with some porridge so that I could take this awesome photograph!
Here you can see the porridge still on her beak. I think this was one of the youngsters.
Standing up with pride! Or she might be looking for her friends.
The last photograph is also unique! I love how the one in the front of the photograph looks so unhappy. In any case, I hope you enjoy these photographs of the beautiful Cape spurfowl or Kaapse fisant and the beauty of the Southern tip of Africa!
