A Kind Friend Revisits my Garden - The Cape Spurfowl (Pternistis capensis or Kaapse fisant)
I work in the garden almost every day. I persuaded my parents who own the property that the grass lawn is essentially "dead" (we live in a drought area) and that the ground under the grass needs loads of compost. Fast forward to today: we have a huge fynbos or fine bush garden with healthy soul. This obviously attracts wildlife. My kindly friends, the cape spurfowl or Kaapse fisant, visited recently. What I call "The Shot" or the best photograph I took of our kindly friend, shows where they settled for the day. It is in the corner of the garden and he or she dug a small hole and he or she covered him or herself in ground. I do not know why they do this, especially now; it is winter and there is no harsh sun. Maybe it has to do with bugs or something? Maybe you know?
Anyways, please enjoy my kind friends, the visitors who played in the ground and left after only a day! Hopefully, they will return and come and say hi and eat some bugs that are in the compost heap.
